Our Doctrine

Statement of Faith

The doctrinal foundations upon which Daniel Institute stands

Members of the board of directors, administrators, and faculty members of Daniel Institute recognise that any doctrinal statement is but a fallible human attempt to summarise and systematise the riches of an infallible divine revelation. But this in no way detracts from the importance of such a statement. In fact, members of the board of directors, administration, and faculty members are annually required to sign a statement affirming agreement with this Statement of Faith.

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed (2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:20–21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12–13).

We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — co-equal, co-eternal, and co-substantial; that this Triune God created all things and upholds all things by the word of His power (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14).

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23; John 1:1–3; 1 Cor. 15:3–4; Acts 1:11).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He baptises, seals, and fills every believer; and that He bestows spiritual gifts for the edification of the Church (John 16:8–11; 1 Cor. 12:4–11; Eph. 5:18).

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gen. 1:26–27; Rom. 3:22–23; 5:12; Eph. 2:1–3).

We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8–10; 1 Pet. 1:18–19).

We believe in the eternal security of the believer — that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:37–40; 10:27–30; Rom. 8:1; 8:38–39; 1 Cor. 1:4–8; 1 Pet. 1:5).

We believe in the universal Church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members; and in the local church, consisting of born-again believers, baptised on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship (Matt. 16:16–18; Acts 2:41–47; 1 Cor. 12:12–13; Eph. 1:22–23).

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment; and in the personal, imminent, pre-tribulational return of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 5:28–29; 1 Thess. 4:13–18; Rev. 20:11–15).
